Kapihan Session Convenes Media and Biotech Experts for a Dialogue on Agricultural Biotechnology
In an effort to bridge the knowledge gap and curb the spread of misinformation and disinformation regarding agricultural innovation, the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications, Inc. (ISAAA, Inc.), partnered with the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries Biotechnology Program (DA Biotech Program) and successfully hosted Conversations on Agri-biotech: A Kapihan Session with the Media on June 11, 2026 at B Hotel Quezon City.
Agri-Biotech Caravan Brings Scientific Innovation to the House of Representatives
The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications, Inc. (ISAAA, Inc.) successfully conducted the first-ever agri-biotech caravan, titled Agri-Biotech in Action: A Biotech Caravan Experience with the House of Representatives, on May 7-8, 2026. The event engaged 18 members and staff of the House of Representatives (HRep) through an experiential learning initiative on biotechnology.
Philippine Lawmakers Convene to Tackle Commercialization of Agri-Biotech Products
The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications, Inc. (ISAAA, Inc.) successfully conducted a Kapihan session, titled Conversation on Agri-biotech: A Kapihan Session with the HRep, gathering over 40 members and staff of the House of Representatives and key agri-biotech players to discuss regulatory and commercialization barriers affecting the development and use of agri-biotech products.
Camp Helix: Agbiotech Boot Camp for STEM Learners and Teachers
ISAAA Inc. organized a two-day event titled Camp Helix: Agbiotech Boot Camp for STEM Learners and Teachers on July 30-31, 2024, at UPLB Training Center for Tropical Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability (TREES) to build knowledge and interest in agriculture and modern biotechnology among STEM learners and teachers. Thirty (30) participants from University of the Philippines Rural High School and San Pablo City Science Integrated High School attended the agri-biotech boot camp.
National Biotechnology Week (NBW) 2024
ISAAA Inc. was an exhibitor at the NBW, presenting the latest biotech communication modalities co-developed with the Department of Agriculture and other partners. Hundreds of visitors, mostly students, participate in the game Battle of Biotech Brains, which tests the visitors' knowledge of basic biotechnology trivia. Winners get to take home ISAAA Inc. merchandise and publications.
The annual event follows the Presidential Proclamation No. 1414 s. 2007, to promote safe and responsible use of modern biotechnology and its products as one of the several means to achieve and sustain food security, equitable access to health services, a sustainable and safe environment, and industry development.
Biotech for Filipino Farmers: A Public Briefing on the Philippine Biotechnology and Biosafety Regulations
ISAAA Inc., in partnership with the Philippine Biotechnology for Agriculture and Fisheries of the Department of Agriculture (DA Biotech Program Office) and Asian Farmer's Network (ASFARNET), conducted two public briefings on June 6, 2024, in Iloilo and on June 20, 2024, in General Santos City.
As part of the Know the Science project, these public briefings aimed to provide recent developments and information on the status of biotechnology and biosafety systems in the Philippines.

This engaging video explains biotechnology in Filipino and features interviews with Filipino experts showcasing groundbreaking innovations. Examples include disease detection kits for rice and abaca, embryo culture technology for makapuno (coconut sport), and induced spawning technology for mudfish.
